Today we are going to see in detail the new Google TV app that allows us to use our cell phone as a remote control and other interesting features.
Thanks to this app, it is possible to use our mobile to control any system with Google TV or Android TV system that we have at home. With this app it is easy to use the mobile as a keyboard or paste a long URL address. This makes it easy to manage any certified TV-Box such as Google Chromecast TV or Smart TV brands that have this Google OS installed.

Installing the Google TV app is very simple, from any Android smartphone we can locate it in the Google Play Store by performing a search. With this app we can directly access our streaming services and also buy movies or series.

Once we have installed the Google TV app we just need to run it and follow the steps indicated on the screen. Automatically, the app will show us which Google TV or Android TV devices are connected to the same Wifi network in our home, these are the ones we can manage.
- To control Google TV or Android TV devices must be on the same Wifi network as our Phone. Check if it is in Wifi 5 or Wifi 2.4 GHz if they give us problems.
- Click on the“Nearby devices detected” icon.
- Select the device you want to control.
- The“Connected” message will appear to indicate that we can now manage it.

To use our mobile as a remote control of the Google TV or Android TV device that we have connected, we just need to activate the system we want to control.

- Remote control with crosshead as in the physical remote control (recommended).
- Remote control with gestures, it is changed from the three dots menu.
- Enter text from the cell phone keyboard. This option is activated automatically when we put the cursor in a text input field, we can write or paste for example a URL in this field.
- We can switch between remote control and keyboard with the upper icon. It also gives us the option to change the device in the TV icon or remotely turn off the controlled device.
