The new GPD Pocket 4 has just been unveiled, an impressive UMPC that offers the latest with AMD Strix Point APUs manufactured in 4nm.
In this small notebook now offers us the AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 processor that displays enough power for any work. In addition, it has the new generation of Radeon 880M GPU that considerably improves its predecessor. The small format of this computer will certainly limit the maximum performance due to thermal issues, but it will undoubtedly be one of the most powerful machines per square millimeter.
This is a device oriented to professions that require a compact size, but with maximum connections. It is ideal as a network access point, virtualization or productivity work anywhere.
GPD Pocket 4 Specifications
The GPD Pocket 4 features the new Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 processor with 12 cores, 4x Zen 5 Power and another 8 Zen 5C low power cores, handling 24 threads and reaching up to 5.1 GHz. It has a core for AI NPU of 50 TOPS and a consumption up to 28 W. As a graphics solution we find the Radeon 880M iGPU with RDNA 3.5 technology of new generation, which brings significantly more performance than the previous generation.
In terms of memory we have 64 GB LPDDR5x 7500 MT/s high-speed non-expandable and internal storage M.2 NVMe 2/4 TB that we can expand by removing the back.
Display and other notable features
The screen is an 8.8-inch IPS display with a resolution of 2560 x 1600 pixels (WQXGA), refresh rate of up to 144 Hz, 16:10 aspect ratio and a maximum brightness of 500 cd/m2. The screen is a 10-point touchscreen with 4096 levels of pressure definition and digital pen support.
As for wireless connectivity, it includes an internal adapter with Wifi 6 and Bluetooth 5.0. Regarding connectors we have afull USB4, HDMI 2, USB-A 3.2 Gen2, USB-C 3.2 Gen2, USB 2.0 and a 2.5 GbE LAN port. In addition, we have aninterchangeable expansion module, with 4G LTE SIM card, EIA RS-232 module and micro SD module or options for more USB ports.
This small notebook has a QWERTY keyboard and on its upper right side it has a touch control system with dedicated buttons. Dimensions are 206.8 × 144.5 × 22.2 × 22.2 mm. The installed operating system is Windows 11 and it has a webcam installed. The battery is 44.8 Wh, capable of lasting up to 9/15 hours and can also be used as a powerbank.
