New affordable Android TV-Box called GTMedia G2 Plus. A device that integrates the successful AMlogic S905W2 SoC, a very interesting processor as you can see in our comparative analysis.
The GTMedia G2 Plus Box is basically oriented to multimedia playback and IPTV streaming. It is not recommended as a streaming player for paid platforms such as Netflix, as it lacks certificates to display them in maximum quality. It is capable of decoding video with the AV1 codec up to 4K@60fps resolutions and HDR 10+ support. The operating system is Android 11, which guarantees a long life for this device that has enough hardware to make use of normal Android apps and also allows us to run mid-range games or emulators on Android.
GTMedia G2 Plus Specifications
At the heart of the GTMedia G2 Plus TV Box is the new Amlogic S905W2 SoC, a Quad Core with ARM Cortex-A35 processors and a MALI-G3 MP2 GPU, which is enough to run streaming apps, KODI, IPTV and some simple 3D games.
This device has 2 GB of DDR3 RAM and 16 GB of eMMc storage memory integrated on board. It also has a micro SD card reader that allows us to increase its internal storage capacity.
Other features
In the wireless connectivity section of the GTMedia G2 Plus we only have Wifi b/g/n with internal antenna, a very basic hardware that does NOT have Bluetooth. In the connectors section this Smart Box includes 2 USB 2.0 ports, HDMI 2.1 port, micro SD card reader, 10/100 network connector and finally an analog port for audio and video.
Included with the accessories is a simple infrared remote control, power supply and all the necessary cables to get it up and running right out of the box.
Pricing and retail availability
- The GTMedia G2 Plus TV-Box can be purchased on AliExpress only for $58 with free shipping. A high price compared to other similar options.
Only 2.4ghz on Wi-Fi & no 5ghz option. also only 10/100? The one thing im missing is the service it provides does this come with the device as us or sign up when you turn on ? That would probably be the only reason I’d purchase. Still great to see new device reviews
