We already have in online stores another of the basic TV-Sticks of the Chinese Mecool brand, oriented to the reproduction of streaming content, the Mecool KD5.
A stick that only attracts attention for including the entry-level SoC AMlogic S805X2 and that stands out for the inclusion of the AV1 codec, its support for HDR technologies, HDR10 + although its design is limited to FHD resolutions. It is not a very powerful SoC, as it includes ARM Cortex-A35 CPU cores that lag behind the Cortex-A5x and the GPU is a modest ARM Mali-G31 MP2.
The operating system of the Mecool KD5 is Android TV 11 certified by Google, Chromecast included and includes certificates to view Netflix and other platforms in FHD quality. An interesting stick for the certificates and its AV1 codec, but with a very high price still for the hardware it offers.
SoC, RAM and storage
The small Mecool KD5 integrates the new AMlogic S805X2 SoC, a Quad Core manufactured in 12nm with ARM Cortex-A35 processors and a Mali-G31 MP2 GPU.
The RAM is only 1 GB LPDDR4 and for storage it includes only 8 GB of eMMc memory, a configuration that falls very short for current uses.
Other specs
For wireless connectivity, we have aC Dual Band Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.2. The connectors are almost non-existent, since we only have a micro USB port for power and an HDMI 2.0 video connector.
The included remote control is via Bluetooth, and we have direct access buttons to Prime Video, Netflix, Youtube and Google Play as well as a microphone for voice functions.
