Mecool KM7, with Amlogic S905Y4 SoC and Android TV 11 lowers its price

We already have at a more acceptable price the recently launched Mecool KM7 a Smart Box that includes Android TV 11 and the new Amlogic S905Y4 SoC that also incorporates the new Mecool KD2.

This is a fairly basic box in terms of hardware, since its connection interfaces are not too many and its RJ-45 network connector is only 10/100. It only attracts attention for integrating the new Amlogic S905Y4, a quad Core chip that we hope to analyse shortly and that still surprises us just as the new S905W2 has done. Also striking is the inclusion of Android TV 11 certified by Google as an operating system, with Chromecast included, on this device we cannot watch Netflix in 4K, but we can watch other streaming services in that quality.

SoC, RAM and storage

The MECOOL KM7 TV Box integrates as a motor an AMlogic S905Y4 SoC a Quad Core with ARM Cortex-A35 processors and an ARM Mali-G31 MP2 GPU that reaches 850 Mhz. This SoC includes decoding of the new AV1 codec, support for video output up to 4K @ 60fps resolutions and compatibility with HDR 10, HDR10 +, HLG, Dolby Vision technologies.

The RAM is 2/4 GB DDR4 while for storage we have 16/32 GB, a figure that we can expand thanks to the micro SD card reader that we have on the side of the plastic box.

Other specs

For wireless connectivity, we have Dual Band aC Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.2. The connectors are not too many, we only see a pair of USB 2.0 ports, analogue audio and video output, 10/100 network port and an HDMI 2.0 video output connector.

The included remote control is via Bluetooth, and we have direct access buttons to Prime Video, Spotify, YouTube and Google Play as well as a microphone for voice functions.
