A discreet presentation was held for the MediaTek Dimensity 8500, a SoC aimed at mid-range smartphones that will compete with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8s Gen 4.
This new Octa Core is manufactured in 4 nm and improves on the Dimensity 8400, especially in terms of graphics performance. This Mediatek has a configuration with 1x Arm Cortex-A725 reaching up to 3.4GHz, 3x Arm Cortex-A725 reaching up to 3.2GHz, and 4x Arm Cortex-A725 with a peak speed of 2.2GHz. The iGpu this time is an Arm Mali-G720 MC8, and for artificial intelligence tasks, we have a Mediatek NPU 880.
In other respects, the MediaTek Dimensity 8500 is capable of handling screens with resolutions up to WQHD with a refresh rate of 144Hz and photo sensors up to 320MP. It includes a 6-in-1 GPS, 5G modem, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.4, and handles UFS 4.x storage memory and RAM up to LPDDR5X at 9600 MHz.
