Under the name of MSI CLAW, the new handheld PC has been leaked, which will be a direct rival of the ASUS Rog Ally, but opting for an Intel processor.
Undoubtedly, the biggest novelty of this console PC is its Intel Core Ultra 7 155H processor, which we have already seen announced in several mini PCs and which will also be presented during CES 2024. A very powerful solution as seen in some reviews of laptops that already mount it, it integrates an Intel Arc Xe 8-core GPU with performance similar to the AMD Ryzen 7000/8000 APUs with RDNA3.
As we can see from the design, proportions, and distribution of the controls, it is almost a clone of the ROG Ally (imitation is the sincerest form of admiration). Another rival that joins the fight in this burgeoning sector, among which there are also heavyweights such as the Steam Deck and the recent Lenovo Legion GO.
MSI CLAW Specifications
The MSI CLAW includes the new Intel Meteor Lake Core Ultra 7-155H processor, which has 16 cores (6P 8E 2LE) and 22 threads up to 4.8 GHz. For the graphics section, we have an Intel Arc GPU with 8 Xe-Cores that provides the latest image and performance enhancement technologies such as XeSS. This processor is manufactured in 4 nm, so it competes directly with the AMD Ryzen Z1.
Also surprising from the leaked specs is its 32 GB LPDDR5X memory, of which we do not know its speed. We will see what consumption the processor is limited to, which can reach 28 W TPD, because it will mark the power it can deploy and its battery life.
Other notable features
As for the screen, the proportions of the controls and the design make it look like a 7-inch panel, we will see if it stays in Full HD resolution and reaches 120 Hz as in the Ally. We will surely have Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.0 connection. From the images it will also have a 2.5 mm audio jack, micro SD, USB4 supposedly and a powerful ventilation system.
The operating system will be Windows 11 for sure. The measurements also appear to be identical to the Ally, which are 280 x 113 x 39 mm, so it will weigh approximately 600 grams.
Price and availability
- The MSI CLAW handheld console will be officially unveiled at CES 2024 starting January 9.
