With the name of Nokia Streaming Box 8000 has been presented a new TV-Box for the streaming sector that integrates the powerful SoC Amlogic S905X3, going a bit out of the conventional in this sector.

This is the second TV-Box presented by Nokia, the first was the Nokia Media Streamer that seems to be seen only in India. This new model for now only seems to be available in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, so it will be necessary to wait or buy it by import if we do not live in those territories. In addition to this type of players with the name of Nokia, the company StreamView GmbH will soon present Smart TV’s with Android TV system.

This TV-Box will have all the necessary certificates to watch Netflix, Prime Video, YouTube and Disney+ and other services like HBO in the highest qualities. It will also have an integrated Chromecast, which is a must to obtain the Android TV certificate.

The new Nokia Streaming Box 8000 includes the SoC AMlogic S905X3, a Quad Core manufactured in 12 nm with ARM Cortex-A55 processors that reach 1.5 GHz speed and also integrates a Mali-G31 MP2 GPU, you can see the power of this SoC in a comparative article of the S905X3. Although it is possible that it is also a variant with added certificates for Dolby audio.

In the video decoding section the VPU is an Amlogic Video Engine 10 with support for HDR Dolby Vision, HDR10+, HDR10 and HLG. this device integrates 2 GB of RAM and 8 GB of eMMC internal storage, fortunately we can expand the storage through a USB port.

Poor specs 2gb ram is low but 8gb storage is ridiculously low, and really unacceptable if you want to install a bunch of apps. Why should i need to expand with a usb stick from the go, no Nokia, think again.

Are you sure the box has HDR10+ and Dolby Vision?

I have it and I can not get ‘HDR10+’ and ‘Dolby Vision’ how is it? I just have ‘HDR10’.

Is there an app to test the supported formats?

Will you review this? From what I see it is only available in Europe, but it’s a pretty compelling product.
