A new mid-range smartphone, the OPPO Reno15 A, has been released in the East—specifically in Japan. It features a drop-resistant, IP69-rated water-resistant body and weighs just 195 grams despite its 7000 mAh battery.
This OPPO is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 6s 4G Gen 1 processor, which is essentially just a rebranded Qualcomm Snapdragon 662—an SoC with 4G connectivity that was introduced in late 2019. This chipset scores around 245,000 points on AnTuTu v11, so we can’t expect too much from it, though it will suffice for basic use; in any case, it’s an SoC that doesn’t quite match the rest of the device’s hardware.
A smartphone with 8/12 GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 256/512 GB of UFS 3.1 storage, expandable via a microSD card slot located in the SIM card tray.
This OPPO features a 6.6-inch IPS display with a resolution of 2372 × 1080 pixels, a 120 Hz refresh rate, and a maximum brightness of 1,400 nits. For cameras, it features a 50 MP front-facing camera for video calls, which complements the 50 MP main camera. The main camera is accompanied by an 8 MP wide-angle lens, a 2 MP macro lens, and an Aura-style LED flash.
It also features Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.1, NFC, GPS, an in-display fingerprint sensor, and a 4G LTE modem with dual SIM and eSIM support. The battery has a capacity of 7000 mAh and supports fast charging up to 80 W; the device features a USB Type-C port.
It runs Android 15 with the ColorOS 15 overlay, so the device’s lifespan could be quite good if the manufacturer provides even minimal updates.
Availability and Price
- The new OPPO Reno15 A starts at 315 € in Japan, which is currently quite expensive for its specs. We expect a Western version to be available soon at retailers like Amazon.
