It has already started to be distributed in Europe, although at the moment we have only found a new and simple Dongle with certified Android TV 9 in France, the POLAROID SMARTBOX S 4K.
A compact size Dongle with an appearance and specifications very similar to the TiVo Stream 4K that you can read our Review and with which it shares the same Quad Core SoC of AMlogic S905Y2 and other specifications. By having Android TV 9.0 certified as OS we can use the Google Assistant without problems through the Bluetooth remote control with microphone and easily send content through the integrated Chromecast. In the Streaming section we are certified for NETFLIX 4K and Amazon Prime Video that even have direct access buttons on the remote control. As it is already a constant in these streaming dongles, we also have certification for HDR10, Dolby Vision and Dolby Digital Plus video technologies in the audio section.
SoC, RAM and Storage
The POLAROID SMARTBOX S includes an AMlogic S905Y2 SoC, a Quad Core manufactured in 12nm with ARM Cortex-A53 processors and an ARM Mali-G31 MP2 GPU. The RAM is 2 GB and the storage is 8 GB eMMc and it is not possible to expand, since it lacks a micro SD card reader or a USB port.
Other features
As for wireless connectivity, it includes Dual Band Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.2. While in terms of connectors we only have a female HDMI 2.1 port and a micro USB for power that limit it a lot even though it is a Stick basically oriented to the reproduction of streaming content.
