We continue to find day by day new Boxes with the Quad Core AMlogic S905Y4 processor on AliExpress, this time a new one called Q8.
This is another Chinese Box that comes with Android TV 11 installed as OS and that according to its specifications in theory has the Widevine L1 certificate to be able to watch paid streaming services like Netflix or HBO Max in FHD video quality. As engine, we have an AMlogic S905Y4 SoC that among others includes native decoding of the AV1 codec.

The Q8 TV Box Q8 includes as a central element an AMlogic S905Y4 processor manufactured in 12nm. This chip is a Quad Core with ARM Cortex-A35 processors and an ARM Mali-G31 MP2 GPU that reaches 850 Mhz. An SoC that includes AV1 codec decoding, support for video output up to 4K@60fps resolutions and compatibility with HDR 10, HDR10, HLG and Dolby Vision technologies.
This TV-Box has a single version that arrives with 4 GB of DDR3 RAM and 32 GB of on-board soldered eMMc storage memory. The storage memory can be expanded from the micro SD card reader included on the side of the plastic case.
