The new Redmi Pad SE 4G has been officially launched in China, a tablet that aims at the entry-level range and reduces its screen to 8.7 inches compared to the Redmi Pad SE.
A tablet that adds 4G connectivity, but reduces its specifications, especially in its processor, a Mediatek Helio G85. This is a common chip in many entry-level smartphones, which is on par in performance with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 of the Redmi Pad SE.
On a positive note, its body includes IP68 certification so it is 100% protected against dust and complete and continuous immersion at depth up to 2 ATM pressure. As operating system, we have Android 14 with the intrusive Xiaomi HyperOS layer, which guarantees a great lifespan.
Redmi Pad SE 4G Specifications
As engine in the Redmi Pad SE 4G we find a MediaTek Helio G85 manufactured in 12 nm technology. This chip is an Octa Core that includes two clusters, one with 2 ARM Cortex-A75 processors capable of reaching 2Ghz and 6 ARM Cortex-A55 processors that reach 1.8Ghz with an ARM Mali-G52 mp2 GPU that reaches 1000MHz.
We also have 4 GB of LPDDR4X RAM soldered on board. As storage, we have 64/128 GB eMMc 5.1 that we can expand through the micro SD card reader up to 2 TB.
Display and other notable features
The screen of the Redmi Pad SE 4G is an 8.7-inch IPS with resolution that stays at 1340×840 pixels, 15:9 ratio, maximum brightness of 600 nits, 1500:1 contrast and 90 Hz refresh. The screen is protected with Gorilla Glass 3 and the cameras are a 5 MP front with microphone and an 8 MP rear with integrated flash.
In the tablet we also find a 4G-LTE Multiband modem with Dual SIM tray, Dual Band Wi-Fi aC, Bluetooth 5.3, GPS, a 6650 mAh battery with 10 W charging that theoretically lets us watch up to 7 hours of video and a pair of Dolby Atmos compatible speakers.
As connectivity, we have a 3.5 mm audio jack, a USB Type-C 2.0 port for data and convenient internal battery recharging.
Price and availability
- The new Redmi Pad SE 4G tablet can be purchased in China from August 8 at a price starting from about 140 € at the exchange rate. As always, in a few days we will find it on AliExpress, although it does not seem to us a particularly attractive tablet.
