REVIEW: Jumper EZBook 3 Pro with N3450 SoC, 6GB of RAM and 13.3 FullHD screen

Jumper EZBook 3 Pro is the ultrabook model that we present today its review, one of the most interesting laptops on the market for its quality / price ratio. This model is in direct competition with the YEPO 737A, which we also made a detailed review a few months ago. This laptop has a very well finished aluminum case, it has an Apollo Lake processor and it integrates 6 GB of DDR3 RAM on its board that feels very good for moving Windows. Let’s see in our analysis how this ultrabook behaves and how it competes with its rivals in the sector.

PRODUCT DETAILS

Description

The ultrabook Jumper EZBook 3 Pro is made of aluminum and has a rather elegant design, a design that reminds us powerfully Apple laptops. On the sides we have the data and power connectors, on the upper side we only have the logo with sanded effect.

• Cameras and audio: 2 MP front / 2 Microphones / 2 Stereo speakers
• Sensors, LEDs and vibration: Only detection closing lid / Load LED and keyboard / No Vibration
• Measurements and weight: 15.16 x 12.4 x 3.35 inches (38.50 x 31.50 x 8.50 cm) / 3 lb (1.4 Kg)

In the back we have four rubber feet to prevent slipping, in this lower side we have a hatch to introduce the M.2 2242 unit if we want to expand the internal storage. If we open the back cover we can see the inside with the motherboard covered by a metal heatsink and the big batteries.

Screen

The screen of the Jumper EZBook 3 Pro has a diagonal of 13.3 inches IPS with a resolution FullHD 1920 x 1080 pixels. A screen that looks great in the right light conditions, maybe it is a little short of power when there is strong ambient light but in general the results are positive for a product in this sector.

• Light power: Correct for indoors / Manual brightness / No light leakage.
• Viewing angles: Correct for IPS type.

Keyboard

The keyboard of the Jumper EZBook 3 Pro is quite good because it does not flex excessively, the response when typing is pleasant. The default keyboard comes in English, although we can change yo any language using stickers. The trackpad in this model behaves normally but does not convey an excellent feeling, , we have installed by default the Touchpad blocker app to avoid ghost touches. The PrintScreen key is missing but we can use the Windows + Shift + S shortcut.

There are missing Pag, Pag, Pag, start, end and insert keys, but we can redefine them with the Autohotkeys app. Create a new script by adding these lines and execute it, pressing Ctrl + Arrows of cursors we will have the first missing keys:

Cameras, speakers and microphone

The cameras of the Jumper EZBook 3 Pro is quite basic, as usually happens in this type of laptops the budget does not give to put the best, the same happens with the speakers and microphones only suitable for a basic use.

• Cameras: 2MP front with low quality, muted colors. 720p in photo and video in 16: 9 format.
• Speakers: 2x rear speakers with power and basic quality, at high volume we notice distortion.
• Microphones: 2x basic front microphones compatible with Cortana.

START UP

System and user experience

To turn on the Jumper EZBook 3 Pro we press the power button, the system Windows 10 Home to 64bit moves smoothly using the Intel Celeron N3450 Quad core processor. Logically, we have a drop in performance in very heavy applications or when navigating with many pages of the web browser open at the same time since we have 6 GB of DDR3 RAM at 1600 MHz, the eMMc 64GB unit complies with speed, but if we add a M.2 disk we will have a substantial improvement when loading apps. For normal desktop use, browsing the internet, watching videos and using office applications, this hardware is more than enough at the user level.

• OS Version installed: Windows 10 Home (1803)
• Software pre-installed: We found the Touchpad blocker app to eliminate ghost touches on the trackpad.
• Tutorials: Control the laptop with your Smartphone Android or iOS / Download, install or update Windows 10 from a USB drive

Support, BIOS and other OS

The Jumper brand has its own website but for complaints it is better to resort to the store where we buy it or PayPal. We can access the BIOS by pressing ESC, it has a simple AMI BIOS without special options or overclocking capabilities.

• BIOS: Without remote start options, we can change the boot unit.
• Other OS: LibreELEC for PC compatible / Ubuntu compatible

HARDWARE TEST

Storage, RAM and Ports

We perform speed tests of the installed storage by default, also of the RAM that comes standard and check the speed and functionality of all its connection ports.

• USB ports: We have two USB 3.0 Type-A conventional ports up to 65MB/s, the microSD card reaches up to 25 MB/s
• Video and audio ouputs:  MicroHDMI output that behaves perfectly / There is no noise in the audio jack.

The speed of the eMMC memory installed by default in the Jumper EZBook 3 Pro gives us some pretty good performance figures in this category, if we want to improve speeds we can always install a M.2 2242 disk.

• Tutorials: Migrate Windows from one disk to another in a simple way

We have integrated 6 GB of RAM works in Dual Channel in LPDDR3 memory modules at a speed of 1600 MHz, the performance is correct but it seems that it is somewhat limited.

Battery and temperature

The Jumper EZBook 3 Pro laptop has a 7.4V 4500 mAh battery, in our tests with medium brightness screen in continuous use reproducing video has given us a duration of 8.5 hours, if we make intensive use of playing or using a lot of processor we will stay in about 4 hours and with a mixed use with adjusted brightness we can reach about 7.5 hours without problems.

• Battery recharge: 2 hours.

We perform several types of tests to check the performance in each use scenario, with this data we can make an idea of the overall real performance that the system will have during its useful life. In general thermally we have a good performance, we have not noticed loss of performance due to heating.

• Continuous extreme performance: Temperature 68ºC Max. / CPU 1.51 GHz / No thermal throlling but very limited CPU.
• Performance in gaming: LoL 62ºC / CPU 1.6 GHz media.
• External temperature: 38ºC at the bottom of the screen.

We perform several types of tests to check the performance in each use scenario, with this data we can make an idea of the overall real performance that the system will have during its working life.

• Continuous extreme performance: Temperatura 68ºC Max. / CPU 2,67 GHz / No thermal throlling
• Performance in games: LOL 62ºC / CPU 1.5 GHz average
• External temperature: 38ºC rear corner

Wifi, Ethernet and Bluetooth

In the Wi-Fi connections the Jumper EZBook 3 Pro tablet has a Intel Wifi AC 3165 Dual Band adapter with Bluetooth 4.1 integrated with which we connect to an ASUS RT-AC1200G+ Router, a mid-range device. We perform tests on the use of streaming using the iPerf measurement tool to see the maximum performance of each network adapter.

• Results: Correct speeds for this type of adapters. Good wifi range.
• Bluetooth: Works correctly and connects without problems.

PERFORMANCE TEST

Processor

The performance of the Jumper EZBook 3 Pro is correct in line with what we normally offer the Intel Celeron N3450 Quad Core SoC, a user-level processor valid for desktop use. In this model the performance at a general level is quite good since the CPU and the GPU do not present problems by thermal issues and can get a good performance without thermal throttling. We can use it perfectly for multimedia playback, surfing the internet or play multimedia content, as is logical we will be limited in heavy applications, especially if they are demanding in 3D or consume a lot of RAM.

Benchmarks

Games

We perform our performance test in games on the Jumper EZBook 3 Pro, the results are in line with this type of products, the Intel HD Graphics GPU 500 is perfectly valid for simple games like those we can find in Android phones by downloading them from the Microsoft Store. Also indie titles in 2D or current games that have a light 3D load like LOL, the emulators are also feasible but at the most we stayed in some simple Game Cube titles.

• GTA V / Overwath / Fortnite, low settings, 720p resolution and no VSync.
• LOL / WOT, ow settings, 1080p  resolution and no VSync.
  *On models with powerful discrete GPU settings in medium and 1080p resolution

With the Jumper EZBook 3 Pro we have performed a performance test with the adjustments we have indicated in the previous graph, with the game League of legends (LOL) that is quite light we can play at about 34fps, its rival DOTA 2 is more demanding and we usually have 10fps less. We also do a special test with CS:GO and we see that we stay at 16fps in 1080p, only if we lower the resolution to 720p we can play minimally at 22fps but it is not very playable. You can see the performance in the videos that you will find below.

VIDEO AND AUDIO TESTS

Video playback test

To playback media content in the Jumper EZBook 3 Pro we have a VPU with hardware support for decoding the h.265 codec and partial VP9, this model also has support for video output miniHDMI in 4K resolution at 30hz. As a player works correctly with any 1080p or 4K video, where we are limited is in very high-bitrate concrete files compressed in h.265 with 10bit of color and heavy files VP9.

• Ports: miniHDMI 1.4 to 4K @ 30fps
• Tutorial: Playback 4K videos with HEVC and VP9 seamlessly on Android and Windows
• If we are interested we can use KODI with add-ons or we can test the LibreELEC operating system for PC

Streaming services

We perform performance tests on the Jumper EZBook 3 Pro mini PC in the most popular streaming services such as Youtube, Netflix, HBO, Amazon Prime Video and others with their native apps or using the most compatible browser. • Performance: This GPU has no hardware acceleration for VP9 4K codec on Youtube, we can use this add-on for Chrome to force h.264

Opinion

Once passed the tests of our review to the Jumper EZBook 3 Pro we can say that we are facing one of the best economic ultrabook models fighting face to face with the YEPO 737A, a product well made thanks to its aluminum body that has a quite considerable solidity. It should be noted with respect to the YEPO that this model has a larger battery and as we have been able to verify a faster eMMC internal memory storage.

An important point of this model Jumper EZBook 3 Pro is the ability to increase its internal storage through the M.2 connector they have in the back, installing this type of disk will have an improvement in the speed of access to the disk that will impact on the response of the system. The FullHD IPS screen and the rigidity of the keyboard also convey good feelings. The weakest points as always are the front camera and the somewhat basic speakers although they are heard well at medium level. In general, a product with a very high value for the money even above its rival YEPO.
