Today we found on AliExpress the new Android Box RockTek G2 that surprises us with the inclusion of an Amlogic 905X4-K processor.
This SoC is a variant of the S905X4, but it includes decoding for Dolby Vision and support for Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby Atmos and DTS audio. For more information, you can read our review of the Amlogic 905X4-K. Otherwise, a very complete Box with 4 GB DDR4, 64 GB of storage, Wi-Fi 6 connectivity and a good number of ports.
The operating system is Android TV 11, and we have support for Netflix 4K and others paid streaming platforms in maximum video quality thanks to its Widevine L1 certificate.
RockTek G2 Specifications
Inside the RockTek G2 Box we find an AMlogic S905X4-K SoC manufactured in 12 nm. This is a Quad Core chip with low-power ARM Cortex-A55 processors that theoretically reach 2 GHz speed and integrates a Mali-G31 MP2 GPU. The VPU includes 4K@60fps, HDR, HDR10, HLG, Dolby Vision and AV1 support.
The RAM memory is 4 GB DDR4 soldered on board and for storage we have 64 GB of eMMc 5.1 memory. On the side of the box, we find a micro SD card reader to expand the internal memory.
Other notable features
In the field of wireless connectivity, we have an interesting leap, as we can enjoy Wi-Fi 6 2T2R and Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity. The connectors included in the plastic box are a USB 2.0 port, another USB 3.0, a USB Type-C, SPDIF digital audio output, Gigabit Ethernet, 3.5 mm analogue Audio and video port and an HDMI 2.1 video output.
As usual, HDMI cable, power supply and a Bluetooth remote control with microphone for Google Assistant and shortcuts to Netflix, Prime Video and others are included.
