It seems incredible that with the variety of processors that are available in the market still are released a new miniPCs equipped with the Intel Atom x5-Z8350 SoC, a chip totally out of orbit at this point. The Tanix TX85 is a new fanless miniPC made by this Intel chip, something illogical having much better alternatives now in the market.
Basic Review
The Tanix TX85 miniPC also includes an outdated processor with which we can only make a very basic use at desktop level, it does not even include one port to install a storage unit that completes its scarce 64GB of eMMc memory. At the multimedia level you can play 4K@30fps files up to h.264 fluently with KODI or IPTV streams. As for Streaming we can see Netflix, Prime Video, HBO up to FullHD quality as in any of the others miniPCs that we recommend. To make matters worse it is expensive because they want to sell it for no less than $147.26.
Processor, RAM and storage
The Tanix TX85 miniPC includes the Intel Atom x5-Z8350 processor, a Quad Core x64 with 4GB of RAM and an internal storage of 64GB of eMMC memory welded to the board, as we have seen we can not extend it since it does not have slots for M. 2 or some space for a 2.5″ SATA disk inside.
Other specifications
This miniPC includes Dual Band WiFi 2.4/5 Ghz, Bluetooth 4.0 and Gigabit Ethernet in terms of network connectors. The interfaces found in the perimeter of its box are 3 USB 3.0 ports, SD card reader, 3.5mm audio jack, VGA video output and an HDMI 1.4 that allows video output up to a maximum resolution of 4K @ 30fps. Includes HDMI cable and VESA support.
