New Box with Android TV to smartize our TV that we found on AliExpress under the name U8 mini and that this time includes an Amlogic S905Y4 processor.
A Box that already comes with Android TV 11 installed as a system and with an AMlogic SoC of which you can read our review and which, among others, includes native decoding of the latest generation AV1 codec. We can say little more interesting in the U8 mini, since its connectivity options are basic, and we will not have the necessary certificates to be able to view paid streaming services such as Netflix or HBO Max in maximum video quality.
U8 mini specs
The U8 mini TV Box includes an AMlogic S905Y4 processor manufactured in 12 nm. This chip is a Quad Core with ARM Cortex-A35 processors and an ARM Mali-G31 MP2 GPU clocked at 850 Mhz. This SoC includes AV1 codec decoding, support for video output up to 4K@60fps resolutions and compatibility with HDR 10, HDR10+, HLG and Dolby Vision technologies.
This Smart Box has 2 GB of DDR3 RAM and 16 GB of eMMc storage memory soldered on board that can be expanded from the included micro SD card reader on the side of the plastic box.
Other features
The U8 mini has Dual Band Wi-Fi aC and Bluetooth 5.0 wireless connectivity. The connectors included in the plastic box are two USB 2.0 ports, another USB 3.0, analogue audio and video port, a 10/100 Ethernet connector, SPDIF audio output and an HDMI 2.1 video output.
The operating system is Android TV 11 and a simple IR remote control is included to be able to use this Box with Android right out of the box.
