The first Chinese TV-Box with the new Amlogic S905X5M SoC is now available on AliExpress, the model called X96 M200.
A Box that stands out for using the recent Amlogic S905X5M SoC manufactured in 6 nm and that promises to be 21% faster than its predecessor (30K DMIPS), the Amlogic S905X4 (20K DMIPS). A significant increase in power that significantly improves this series of budget processors and in which we also have a new Mali-G310 V2 GPU that doubles its graphics power. The rest of the specifications do not stand out too much, we will only point out its Gigabit network port.
The operating system is Android 14, although we do not know if it is the version for tablets or a mod of Android TV and if its Ai-SR algorithms that improve the quality in low resolution video playback will be active. In any case, it will not have DRM certificates for Netflix and similar as in the new Xiaomi TV Box S 3rd Gen that uses the same SoC.
X96 M200 Specifications
Inside this new Box we find the Quad Core Amlogic S905X5M processor, manufactured in 6 nm. It integrates ARM Cortex-A55 processors with a power of 30K DMIPS and a new ARM Mali-G310 V2 iGPU. We have support for native decoding of H.265, AVS2, VP9 and AV1 codecs with resolutions up to 4K@75fps 10 bit, compatible with HLG and HDR10 technologies.
We have different versions of this Box with 2/4 GB of DDR3 RAM and 16/32/64 GB of eMMc storage. If we want to expand the memory, we can use the included microSD card reader.
Other notable specifications
In the wireless connectivity section, the X96 M200 offers Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity. The connectors included in the plastic box are two USB 2.0 ports, gigabit network port, SPDIF digital audio output and an HDMI 2.1a video output with support for up to 4K@60 FPS resolutions.
Power supply, HDMI cable to connect it to the TV and a remote control with microphone and shortcut keys to different streaming apps are included.
