Xiaomi Redmi K Pad 2, a gaming tablet with the Dimensity 9500 and a 9,100 mAh battery, is now on sale

The new Xiaomi Redmi K Pad 2, a compact gaming tablet designed to compete with products like the Lenovo Legion Y700, is now available in China.

This compact tablet features the Mediatek Dimensity 9500 processor, manufactured on a 2nm process, an upgrade from its predecessor, which used the 9400. This gaming tablet offers a compact size thanks to its 8.8-inch 3K IPS display with a refresh rate of up to 165 Hz. To ensure maximum performance, it features a large vapor chamber. Additionally, it comes with a large 9100 mAh battery, significantly extending playtime compared to its predecessor.

The system runs Android 16 with the usual HyperOS 3 custom UI. A global version will be released in the future, featuring OTA updates and access to the Google Play Store.

The SoC integrated into the Xiaomi Redmi K Pad 2 is the powerful 2nm-processed MediaTek Dimensity 9500. This chip features one C1-Ultra core clocked at 4.21 GHz, two C1-Premium cores clocked at 3.5 GHz, and four C1-Pro cores clocked at 2.7 GHz. The GPU is also a new Arm Mali-G1 Ultra MC12 capable of encoding and decoding video at resolutions up to 8K and supports Ray Tracing and Unreal Engine 5.6.

In terms of RAM, the device features 8 GB / 12 GB / 16 GB of LPDDR5X integrated onto the motherboard. For storage, it offers capacities of 256 GB / 512 GB in the form of high-speed UFS 4.1.

Other features

This Redmi features an 8.8-inch IPS display with 3K resolution (3008 x 1880), brightness up to 1100 nits, 12-bit P3 color depth, support for Dolby Vision and HDR Vivid, and a configurable refresh rate of up to 165 Hz. It features a 13 MP rear camera and an 8 MP front camera. For audio, it has two side-firing speakers. For connectivity, it includes a Wi-Fi 7 2×2 MIMO adapter and high-speed Bluetooth 5.4.

For connectivity, it features two USB-C ports with fast charging up to 67 W via PD 3.0, one USB 3.2 Gen 1 port, and one USB 2.0 port. The battery is 9100 mAh with 80 W fast charging, and it also supports 22.5 W reverse charging to use it as a power bank. On one side, there is a physical button with an integrated fingerprint reader.

Price and where to buy

  • The powerful Xiaomi Redmi K Pad 2 is priced at 3,600 yuan, which is about $528. It will soon hit the market on platforms like AliExpress at a higher starting price.
