Xiaomi Redmi K Pad 2, a new gaming tablet with the Dimensity 9500 and a massive battery

The new Xiaomi Redmi K Pad 2, a tablet designed for mobile gaming, has been unveiled in China and is set to compete with the Lenovo Legion Y700 tablets.

Powering this version is the 2nm Mediatek Dimensity 9500 processor, an upgrade from the previous model, which featured a 9400. This gaming tablet offers a compact size thanks to its 8.8-inch 3K IPS display with a refresh rate of up to 165 Hz a great combination for fast response times. Additionally, it features a large 9100 mAh battery, significantly extending gameplay hours compared to its predecessor.

The operating system this time will be Android 16 with the custom HyperOS 3 overlay. In the future, we’ll have the corresponding global version, which will include OTA updates and access to the Google Play Store.

The SoC powering this new tablet is a 2nm-processed MediaTek Dimensity 9500. It features one C1-Ultra core clocked at 4.21 GHz, two C1-Premium cores clocked at 3.5 GHz, and four C1-Pro cores clocked at 2.7 GHz. The GPU is also a new Arm Mali-G1 Ultra MC12 capable of encoding and decoding video at resolutions up to 8K and supports Ray Tracing and Unreal Engine 5.6.

This Redmi features an 8.8-inch IPS display with 3K resolution, Dolby Vision support, and a configurable refresh rate of up to 165 Hz. The battery is a 9100 mAh unit with 80W fast charging. Thanks to the SoC’s features, it includes LPDDR5X RAM, high-speed UFS 4.1 storage, and Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6.0.

Price and where to buy

  • The powerful Xiaomi Redmi K Pad 2 has just been unveiled in China and will likely be priced similarly to its predecessor, at $559. It will soon be available in stores such as AliExpress.
