Xiaomi TV Box S 2nd generation with Google TV now on sale

We already have for sale at the Xiaomi Fan Festival the new Xiaomi TV Box S 2nd generation TV-Box that comes with the same design as the previous version.

Internally, the Xiaomi Mi TV Box S 2nd generation improves compared to the previous version, since we now have a more powerful Amlogic SoC such as the S905X4 where we have support for the new AV1 codec, Dolby Vision… Bluetooth is updated to version 5.2 and the operating system now the Google TV. On the other hand, we continue with a memory configuration of 2/8 GB, a pity this new version would not have been used to expand the storage to at least 16 GB.

The remote is also updated with shortcut keys to applications such as Netflix, YouTube, Prime Video and direct access to the rest of the apps.

The Xiaomi TV Box S 2nd generation Smart Box includes an unknown variant of the SoC AMlogic S905X4, a Quad Core manufactured in 12nm, check a similar review to check the performance. A Chip with low consumption ARM Cortex-A55 processors that theoretically reach 2 GHz speed. It integrates a Mali-G31 MP2 GPU and a VPU of this SoC offers AV1 decoding support and HDR, HDR10 and Dolby Vision support. As for audio, it supports up to Dolby Atmos and DTS-HD officially.

The RAM memory is 2 GB DDR4, and we continue with 8 GB of eMMc storage that we can expand through its USB port.

Other features

As for wireless connectivity, we have Dual Band Wi-Fi aC and Bluetooth 5.2 with internal antenna. The connectors are few, we have a USB 2.0 port, 3.5 mm audio jack and an HDMI 2.0 video output with support for up to 4K@60fps resolutions.

As usual, an HDMI cable, Bluetooth remote control with integrated microphone to use Google Assistant and power supply are included to be able to use this Smart Box from the first moment.

Hi, I think it’s a bit disappointing that it doesn’t have a USB C port. Question: what is the max ethernet speed that can be reached with a USB ethernet adapter?
