The new GMKTec EVO-X3 is now available in stores. It’s a device that certainly stands out thanks to its very slim and tall housing—a design that allows for a large heat exchange area.
This mini PC comes equipped with the AMD Ryzen AI Max 395 processor, though it was initially unveiled with the AMD Ryzen AI Max PRO 495 APU, which appears to have been discontinued; perhaps we’ll see it in a future update. The change isn’t critical, though, since the performance is quite similar. This version features the impressive Radeon 8060S GPU; with it, we can run games at a good performance level, even the most demanding AAA titles. If that’s not enough, we can use the included OCuLink port to connect an external GPU.
This machine offers up to 128 GB of unified LPDDR5X RAM. It’s a product designed to run heavy local AI models and will come with a very high price tag.
GMKTec EVO-X3 Specifications
At the heart of this machine is the AMD Ryzen AI Max 395 APU, manufactured using TSMC’s 4-nm FinFET process. It features a Zen 5 CPU with 16 cores and 32 threads that reaches a speed of 5.1 GHz, along with a 16 TOPS AI NPU for artificial intelligence tasks (126 TOPS NPU + GPU + CPU). For graphics, the system includes a powerful 40-core Radeon 8060S iGPU running at up to 2.9 GHz.
As for RAM, the board features 128 GB of LPDDR5X integrated in a dual-channel configuration running at 8000 MHz. For storage, it offers two internal slots for 2280 NVMe PCIe 4.0×4 SSDs, expandable up to 8 TB.
Other notable features
In terms of networking, it features a 2.5G RJ45 port and a Wi-Fi 7 adapter with Bluetooth 5.4. As for ports, the chassis features 3 USB-A ports, a 3.5 mm audio jack, two HDMI 2.0 video outputs, and a USB4 port with DisplayPort output. To connect an eGPU, there’s an OCuLink port capable of speeds up to 80 Gbps.
This computer is powered by a small external DC adapter rated up to 140 W. It also includes a vertical stand to take up as little space as possible, and the operating system is Windows 11 Pro.
