The new MECOOL MEon1 Android Box has just been unveiled and will soon be available worldwide. This time, it comes with Netflix certification and support for the latest video formats.
Inside, we find the Quad Core Amlogic S905X5M processor, more powerful than its predecessor, the Amlogic S905X4, and this version includes compatibility with Dolby Atmos and Dolby Vision. This increased power is noticeable in the new Mali-G310 V2 GPU, which doubles its graphics power, as you can see in our review.
This box runs on Google TV and is DRM certified to watch Netflix 4K and similar services such as Prime Video and Disney in high quality. An interesting box, but one that lags far behind the Xiaomi TV Box S (3rd Gen), which has similar features, a better update policy, and is half the price.
MECOOL MEon1 specifications
This new Android box features the Amlogic S905X5M-J processor, manufactured in 6 nm. It integrates ARM Cortex-A55 processors with a power of 30K DMIPS and a new ARM Mali-G310 V2 iGPU. It also supports native decoding of H.265, AVS2,VP9, and AV1 codecs with resolutions up to 4K@75fps 10-bit, compatible with HLG, HDR10, and Dolby Vision technologies.
There is a single version of this box with 2 GB of RAM and 32 GB of eMMc storage. If you want to expand the memory, you can use the micro SD card reader on the side of the box.
Other notable specifications
In terms of wireless connectivity, the MECOOL MEon1 includesWi-Fi6 and Bluetooth 5.2 connectivity. The connectors included in the plastic box are two USB 2.0 ports, a 10/00 network connector, SPDIF digital audio output, and an HDMI 2.1b video output with support for up to 4K@75hz resolution.
As usual, a power supply and a Bluetooth remote control with a microphone for giving commands with Google Assistant and possibly an infrared sensor are included.
