The MINIX NEO U4K Android TV-Box has been unveiled, featuring the new Amlogic S905X5 SoC, a major improvement over the popular Amlogic S905X4.
This new MINIX TV-Box , almost identical in design to the MINIX NEO U8K-ULTRA, offers this time the SoC Amlogic S905X5 of which we already saw its specifications some time ago. A processor manufactured in 6 nm that promises to be 21% faster than its predecessor Amlogic S905X4. It includes certification for viewing content with Dolby Vision technology and Dolby Atmos audio, a differential point compared to the competition. The operating system is Android 14 with automatic OTA updates (it is not Android TV).
We also have Widevine L1 DRM support, with this we will have good image quality in all streaming services using their official apps without worries.
MINIX NEO U4K Specifications
This new Android TV-Box is powered by the Amlogic S905X5, manufactured in 6 nm. It integrates ARM Cortex-A510 processors and a new ARM Mali-G310 V2 iGPU. We have support for native decoding of H.265, AVS2, VP9, AV1 and H266 codecs with resolutions up to 4K@75fps 10 bit. It is Dolby Vision compliant and also features Widevine L1 DRM.
This TV-Box features 4GB of LPDDR4 RAM and 64GB of eMMc 5.1 storage memory. A micro SD card reader is also included in case we want to expand the storage by adding up to 256 GB.
Other outstanding features
WIFI 6 2×2 MIMO wireless connectivity with an internal antenna and Bluetooth 5.2 are available. The included connectors are a Gigabit Ethernet network port, micro SD memory card slot, a USB 3.0 connector, a USB 2.0, 3.5 mm audio jack, SPDIF output and an HDMI 2.1a video output capable of outputting up to 4K video resolutions at 75fps. This TV-Box, as mentioned, has support for Dolby Digital, Dolby Atmos, DTS Passthrough, DTS:X, DTS-HD MA, Dolby TrueHD and Dolby Digital Plus audio
This Minix Box comes with the MINIX NEO A3 Pro bluetooth and infrared remote control with integrated microphone, full keyboard and gyroscope to control the system by flymouse cursor.
Price and where to buy
- The MINIX NEO U4K TV-Box will soon be available on Amazon and other stores at a price yet to be defined, but which will be lower than the MINIX NEO U8K.
