Today we find on sale a new onn. Google TV 4K Streaming Box with upgraded processor, moving from an Amlogic S905Y2 to the more current S905Y4.
The new onn. Google TV 4K Streaming Box keeps the same design as the previous onn. 4K Streaming Box 2022 that we saw in a review. This version includes as main novelty a more powerful SoC, the Quad Core Amlogic S905Y4 accompanied by the usual 2 GB of RAM. The connectors as is logical are very limited, something normal, in a device completely oriented to 4K HDR10 streaming and that has Google certification.
A media player very similar by the looks of it to the Xiaomi MI TV Stick 4K, we hope to make our review soon.
onn. Google TV 4K Streaming Box specifications
The onn. Google TV 4K Streaming Box includes an AMlogic S905Y4 processor, a Quad Core with low power ARM Cortex-A35 processors and an ARM Mali-G31 MP2 GPU that reaches 850 Mhz. This SoC includes decoding of the new AV1 codec, support for video output up to 4K@60fps resolutions and it seems that it will only support HDR10.
The on-board RAM memory is 2 GB DDR4 while for storage we have only 8 GB eMMc, so we will only be able to install a few apps. It will be possible to expand the internal memory, we will need a microUSB OTG cable and a USB HUB to connect a pendrive.
Other features
For wireless connectivity we have wifi aC Dual Band and Bluetooth 5.0. The connectors as we can see are very limited, by the fact that we only have a micro USB 2.0 OTG port for power and a HDMI 2.1 video connector. This hardware allows us to play 4K@60fps HDR10 and supports basic Dolby audio sound. It also includes support for AV1 codec thanks to the new Amlogic processor included.
The operating system is up to date with Google TV 11 without any customization. A Bluetooth remote control is included, and we have shortcut buttons for Netflix, Disney+ and Paramount+ that also integrates a microphone for voice functions with its corresponding shortcut key for Google Assistant.

Niche catch. Sure will be fine, like the first 4k version.
Running great, 4th day in a row, very easy setup , settings adjusted a bit. Running with my sound-bar and on a 4k Hisense tv , it controls the volume on tv, sound bar and my BLuetooth headphones (I pair to watch tv & movies at night a lot when using my shield ). Google tv doesn’t bother me at all. It feels like it runs smoother (assuming the combo of the chip upgrade as well as the OS update) it could be a number reasons but I’ve found no issues yet ( for anyone looking for 1 they’re available… Read more »
