The China Tanix brand also points to the range of low-priced Boxes equipped with the Rockchip RK3318 a low tier SoC with its Tanix TX8 box. A Box that as usual is moved by Android 9.0 and reuses a plastic box with frontal LED panel that we have already seen to the full in this brand. Novelties with respect to the competition none and it is that the majority of these Smart Box of cheap range seem like drops of water internally.
Basic review
The performance of the Smart TV-box Rockchip RK3318 can be seen in the review of one of the similar TV-Boxes that we have already analyzed. This box with Android can work as a basic player with KODI or IPTV even in 4K resolutions and we can also run simple games without too much demand for resources. Remember that this cheap Box does not have secured support and does not have DRM certificates, so we can only watch Netflix in basic image quality. If you are interested in watching paid streaming in HD and 4K quality you can see our TV-Box list with compatible DRM certificates.
SoC, RAM and storage
As we have already mentioned, the Smart TV Box Tanix TX8 has the Rockchip RK3318 SoC that integrates four ARM Cortex-A53 processors capable of reaching 1.5Ghz and a Mali-450 MP5 GPU that includes native H.265 video decoding and VP9 up to 4K@60fps resolutions with support for HDR. It has versions with 4 GB of DDR3 RAM and 32 / 64GB of eMMc storage memory that we can expand by adding a memory card in the included microSD card reader.
Other specifications
At the level of wireless connections the Tanix TX8 has WiFi Dual Band and Bluetooth 4.0. On the sides of the box we find a USB 3.0 port, another USB 2.0, 10/100 network connector, SPDIF digital audio output and an HDMI 2.0a port that allows you to output up to 4K @ 60fps video resolutions.
