VONTAR X2, Android Box on sale at AliExpress Back to School

Very good price within the AliExpress Back to School Promo for a Box based on the AMlogic S905W2 SoC with the name of VONTAR X2 and Android 11 as system.

This is the typical generic Chinese Box with the most normal specifications. At least with its Amlogic processor we won’t have any problems using it as a media player, and it’s even compatible with the new AV1 video codec up to 4K@60fps resolutions and with support for content compatible with HDR 10+. An interesting processor within the cheap range as you can see in our Analysis and that is basically oriented to multimedia playback, running apps, and it seems that soon it could even be compatible with EmuELEC.

As we always warn, it is not recommended to use this BOX to view payment platforms such as Netflix, since it lacks certificates to view them in maximum video quality, for this we have better options.

VONTAR X2 Specifications

The VONTAR X2 includes an Amlogic S905W2 SoC manufactured in 12nm on its motherboard. This chip is a Quad Core with low power ARM Cortex-A35 processors and a MALI-G3 MP2 GPU. This processor is enough to move Android 11 included, streaming apps, KODI, IPTV and some simple games in 3D load that, as always, the CPU is cooled by a fanless heatsink, so we do not have any noise.

In this device we have on the board versions with 2/4 GB of DDR3 RAM and 16/32/64 GB of eMMc storage memory. It also has a memory card reader in micro SD format that allows us to increase its internal storage capacity.

Other features

In the wireless connectivity section in the VONTAR X2 we have Dual Band Wifi aC with internal antenna and Bluetooth 4.0. As for connectors, on the perimeter of its circular box we find 2 USB 2.0 ports, HDMI 2.1 port, RJ-45 10/100 network connector and finally a reset button.

Among the accessories included, we have a simple infrared remote control, power supply and all the necessary cables to start it up right out of the box.
