Today we find one of the few Smart TV Box available in stores that include 4G-LTE connectivity called X88 4G Lte. A Box with Android 9.0 and based on a Rockchip SoC that includes a 4G-LTE module inside and a nanoSIM card slot on the back. A Box designed for sites where conventional broadband does not arrive or for example where it is only necessary to connect sporadically to the network automatically to transmit small amounts of data. No doubt a Box that is not intended for most users but that can be very useful for certain functions.
Basic review
We can compare the X88 4G Lte Box with a similar model that we have already analyzed. This is an Android TV-Box that can be used as a basic media player with KODI or IPTV and where we can also run simple games without too much demand for resources. Remember that these economic Boxes do not have secured support and do not have DRM certificates, so we can only watch Netflix in basic image quality. If you are interested in watching paid streaming in HD and 4K quality you can see our TV-Box list with DRM certificates compatible with these services.
SoC, RAM and storage
The X88 4G Lte Smart Box features the Rockchip RK3328 SoC that has four ARM Cortex-A53 processors and a Mali-450mp2 GPU that includes native H.265 and VP9 video decoding up to 4K @ 60fps resolutions with support for HLG HDR. It has 2 GB of DDR3 RAM and 16 GB of eMMc storage memory.
Other specifications
As for wireless connectivity we have Dual Band WiFi and 4G-LTE thanks to a Quectel EG25-G module with worldwidw bands and that reaches speeds of 150/50 Mbps. On the back of the box we find a USB 3.0 port, another USB 2.0, 10/100 network connector, analog AV jack, SPDIF digital audio output and an HDMI 2.0a port that allows up to 4K @ 60fps video resolutions. The classic IR remote control and an HDMI cable are included in the box.
