Xiaomi Mi TV-Stick is presented by surprise and may reach Europe in May

By surprise we receive information about a new Xiaomi product for our televisions, it is the Xiaomi Mi TV-Stick, a device that is expected to arrive in Europe in May, although with the coronavirus it may be delayed. A dongle that we have not yet seen in the Chinese market, which arrives without warning directly to the European market, perhaps due to the large streaming user base in this market.

For his arrival in Europe, it is expected that you have all the necessary certificates to watch 4K / FHD quality content on Netflix, Prime Video Disney+ or HBO and very possibly the operating system is Android TV 9. It may even surprise us with Android TV 10 as we have seen in the Google ADT-3, a Google development stick that mounts the Amlogic S905Y2 SoC for this format.

Possible specifications

The Xiaomi Mi TV-Stick is only an image until now but if we have to bet we opted for an AMlogic S905Y2 SoC, a Quad Core manufactured in 12nm with ARM Cortex-A53 processors and an ARM Mali-G31 MP2 GPU. The RAM could be 2GB and the storage 8 or 16GB eMMc. A sufficient number to use it as a streaming device, you can see how this processor performs in our Review of a similar S905Y2, a SoC much more powerful than the S905X-L of the current Mi Box S.

At the wireless connectivity level we will undoubtedly have WiFi ac Dual band and Bluetooth. At connectors level we will have the minimums given its size, with a single USB Type-C or micro USB port for electrical charging and possibly with OTG functions. Hopefully a small Bluetooth remote will accompany you. As soon as it is available, we will do our classic Review and we will see all its features in detail.

Price and availability

  • The Xiaomi Mi TV-Stick as we say may or may not arrive in May its price will be lower than the Xiaomi Mi Box S but we calculate that not much more so we can expect a starting price of €40/50.
