We already have the first images and specifications of the new Xiaomi TV Stick 2021, which comes to succeed the version launched in 2020 of which you can read our review.
A new version that appears in the FCC of USA and that reveals much of its specifications, the most interesting is the inclusion of the new AMlogic S905Y4 SoC that substantially improves its power over the 2020 version. It is expected to arrive already with Android TV 11 as operating system with Chromecast and certificates to view paid streaming platforms such as Netflix in 4K.
The Xiaomi TV Stick 2021 is externally is very similar to the 2020 model, the connectors are also minimal and is oriented to streaming. Hopefully, at a minimum we will have a version with 2GB of RAM to take advantage of the capabilities of the S905Y4 SoC to play 4K at 60fps, although anything is possible with Xiaomi.
SoC, RAM and storage
The new Xiaomi TV Stick of this 2021 integrates as engine an AMlogic S905Y4 SoC a Quad Core with ARM Cortex-A35 processors and an ARM Mali-G31 MP2 GPU that reaches 850 Mhz. This SoC includes decoding of the new AV1 codec, support for video output up to 4K@60fps resolutions and support for HDR 10, HDR10+, HLG, Dolby Vision technologies.
The RAM memory is expected to be 1/2 GB DDR4 while for storage and speculating we can have 8/16 GB versions, a normal figure within the sticks oriented to streaming.
For wireless connectivity we have wifi aC Dual Band and Bluetooth 5.0. The connectors are minimal, with a single power port, hopefully USB Type-C and an HDMI 2.0 video connector.
The remote control is by bluetooth, includes microphone for the Google Assistant voice assistant that we can launch from the dedicated button for it and we have direct access buttons to Prime Video and Netflix.
Price and availability
- At the moment we have no starting price for the new Xiaomi TV Stick, but it is expected that the cheapest version starts from $39 / 35€ and reaches the market shortly for the Christmas campaign.
