The XS97mini + is another low-end generic Chinese box, based on the Amlogic S905W2 SoC that reigns in this segment thanks to its features and price.
This is the typical generic Chinese Box with very low specifications, since at the moment we have found a version with only 1 GB of RAM that makes it not recommendable. At least with its Amlogic processor we won’t have any problems using it as a media player, and it’s even compatible with the AV1 video codec up to 4K@60fps resolutions and with support for content compatible with HDR 10+. An interesting processor as you can see in our Analysis and that is basically oriented to multimedia playback, and it seems that soon it could even be compatible with EmuELEC.
As we always warn, it is not recommended to use this BOX to view payment platforms such as Netflix, since it lacks certificates to view them in maximum video quality. The operating system is Android 11, which is usual with this AMlogic SoC.
XS97 mini+ Specifications
The XS97mini + includes an Amlogic S905W2 SoC manufactured in 12nm soldered on its motherboard. This chip is a Quad Core with low power ARM Cortex-A35 processors and a MALI-G3 MP2 GPU. This processor is enough to move the Android 11 included, streaming apps, KODI, IPTV and some simple games in 3D load that, as always, the CPU is cooled by a fanless heatsink, so we do not have any noise.
In this device, we currently have only a version on the board with 1 GB of DDR3 RAM and 8 GB of eMMc storage memory. It also has a memory card reader in micro SD format that allows us to increase its internal storage capacity.
Other features
In the wireless connectivity section in the XS97 mini+ we have Dual Band Wi-Fi aC with internal antenna and Bluetooth 4.0. As for connectors, on the perimeter of its circular box we find the usual 2 USB 2.0 ports, HDMI 2.0 port, RJ-45 10/100 network connector and finally a reset button.
Among the accessories included, we have a simple infrared remote control, power supply and all the necessary cables to start it up right out of the box.
