Mecool KT1 is a new TV-Box that we present today its analysis or review. A TV-Box with Android that this time has two versions depending on the tuning we choose.
In this new Android TV-Box we have as a novelty the inclusion of the SoC Amlogic S905X4-B with quad-core CPU ARM Cortex-A55 which is similar to the previous Mecool KT1 with S905X4-B but with support for AV1 codec. The version we are going to analyze has DVB-T2+C tuner but there is another version with DVB-S2 for satellite. We have this time with Android TV 10 OS with Google Certification and 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of storage, enough for multimedia. Let’s see in our review how this device behaves and how it fares against its rivals.

Video and audio test
Video playback test
We tested the video playback section and the Mecool KT1 is compatible with most modern video formats such as h.265, VP9 and AV1 with native 4K@120fps HDR resolution support. It even supports 8K@60fps, it doesn’t have a video quality settings and don’t have auto refresh rate switching. In the base firmware of this SoC S905X4 we do not find the settings for Dolby Vision, it is possible that it lowers the quality of this system to normal HDR10.
We can use players like KODI or PLEX without the slightest problem by installing them directly from the Android TV store. As for audio we can play DD sound up to 7.1 and DTS up to 5.1 through its HDMI port. The Chromecast system works but only with compatible apps like Youtube, with services like Netflix we can not use it.
- Video Settings:Â NO image quality settings / RGB and SDR / HDMI-CEC available, see manual / Automatic refresh no available.
- Audio Settings: HDMIÂ 7.1 / Stereo Jack.
- Color and HDR: 10Bit / RGB / HDR 10.
- Media sharing: GoogleCast YES / Miracast No / DLNA with BlubblePnP / Airplay No.
- LibreELEC: NO compatible with LibreELEC or CoreELEC for now.
- Tutorials: Install add-on in KODI / Judder effect, how to fix it / Multi-channel audio guide / Correct dark video playback in Android.
- We recommend reading the Setup Guide of our TV to get the best picture quality.

Streaming services
We conducted tests on streaming services to check how the most popular services work. The Mecool KT1 offers some compatibility with all current streaming services. As we have found Netflix is only compatible using a modified app, this means that we depend on this third party app and Netflix can ban at any time the app or even the device as has happened with other Box Mecool previously. We have Disney+ without sound problems and Amazon Prime video in good quality but we have to install the app manually because it does not appear in Google Play if we look for it.

Score
Opinion
After testing for a few days the Mecool KT1 we can say that we are facing a TV-Box with pretty good tuners. This is a Box that has enough power thanks to the S905X4-B SoC to run any app, powerful games, emulators up to 16/32bit, IPTV apps or use KODI where we can play 4K video without problems. It is also compatible with some streaming apps that we have tested such as Netflix up to 1080p but with temporary hack quality and other popular ones. Undoubtedly its most attractive point is the DVB-T2+C or DVB-S2 tuners that integrates to tune our channels and behaves well in this section.
In terms of connectivity the Mecool KT1 has a Wifi aC Dual Band adapter with correct speeds although if we want to connect it by local network we must take into account that its port is only Ethernet 10/100. This Box, as we have found, heats up very little in continuous use, which is essential in devices with integrated tuning. As a system we have Android TV 10 with Google Certification, which in general is very stable and moves very smoothly, also has Chromecast and Bluetooth remote control with integrated microphone.
We can say in conclusion that the Mecool KT1 is a TV-Box with tuners that works very well in general. The new TV software and Android TV system with this SoC gives us a very smooth experience.

Any possibility to start cccam service at mecool kt1 dvb-s2x?
Remove channel numbers on live TV. Even if I do the channel sort, it’s not useful because there are channel numbers. I should be able to see all the apps we downloaded on the home screen. Bluetooth is weak. I can’t stream data from my phone. At startup, let the application I want open automatically. The channel name and information do not go from the screen without pressing the control key.
Thanks for the review. Would the the tuner in these boxes pick up US over the air broadcast stations, which I believe are ATSC?
This box is not compatible with ATSC.

Fake AV1
What? this soc have av1 support, you can check it with youtube.
Hello, first of all thanks for this wonderful site, thanks to this site I can see the most detailed analysis for android boxes. My question is could you recommend a android box that supports Full HD resolution [1080P] for IP TV? Because almost all boxes I’ve seen have 1080i IP TV resolution. What is the best box that has 1080P resolution for IPTV? It would be nice if it has Google and Netflix certified, but it’s not essential. I was going to buy MeCool KM2, it was a perfect device for me in general but I see that it has… Read more »
Hi. Thanks.
IPTV is usually always in 1080i, is the standard, we don’t check more than this for that reason. Just this format compatibility.
Any box with a modern soc like KM2 can support 4K@60 easy, but usually all the 4K IPTV are fake and is just 1080i.
Thanks a lot. I’ll go for KM2 then.
Km2 is great choice can get for 60$ depending where u go I have it.
