tvIt seems that the AMlogic S905Y4 SoC makes the leap to the Chinese general market after passing through certified Boxes, since if a few days ago we saw the Box U3 mini, today we find the new X6.
The X6 is a Box with a format that attracts attention, since it is not the usual flat quadrangular box, because this time it is larger and in its upper part it has a slot where you can insert a SATA 3.0 storage unit. An interesting addition for those looking for a Box to use as a media player with a large local storage capacity and easily interchangeable.
In the X6 we have Android 11 OS and the recent Amlogic S905Y4 processor, of which you can read our review and which, among others, includes native decoding of the latest generation AV1 codec.
X6 specs
The TV Box X6 includes an AMlogic S905Y4 processor, a Quad Core with ARM Cortex-A35 processors and an ARM Mali-G31 MP2android GPU that reaches 850 Mhz. This SoC includes decoding of the new AV1 codec, support for video output up to 4K@60fps resolutions, and compatibility with HDR 10, HDR10+, HLG, and Dolby Vision technologies.
This Smart Box includes 2 GB of LPDDR4 RAM and 16 GB of eMMc storage memory that can be expanded from the micro SD card reader included on the side of the plastic box. As we have already mentioned, we also have a dock with a SATA 3.0 connector to connect a 2.5-inch hard drive or SSD.
Other features
The X6 has Dual-Band Wi-Fi AC and Bluetooth 4.2 for wireless connectivity. The connectors included in the plastic box are a USB 2.0 port, analogue audio and video port, a 10/100 Ethernet connector, SPDIF audio output and an HDMI 2.1 video output.
The operating system is Android 11 and a simple IR remote control with different shortcut keys is included, so you can use this Box with Android right out of the box.
