From the version Kodi 18 Leia we have in this software the possibility of connecting with streaming systems with DRM protection as in the case of Netflix. With this method we can integrate Netflix in our KODI environment, using either an Android TV-Box, tablet, smartphone or in mini PCs like the ones we review on our website. This method can also be interesting in devices with problems to use the official app or to obtain a better quality of the emission.

USES AND LIMITATIONS OF NETFLIX IN KODI
Options of use
We have several options to use the Netflix add-on in KODI depending on the hardware we have and the DRM certificates that our devices have, in any case it is a good alternative if we have problems with the official app.
- In TV-Box with ARM processor using Android, limited to models with official support such as Xiaomi Mi Box and Nvidia Shield.
- In TV-Box with ARM processor using LibreELEC, available for all models with Widevine L1 DRM certificates or without.
- In mini PC in any type of Windows or LibreELEC system.
Limitations
This add-on does not have official Netflix support and the versions we download are developed by users who use the KODI 18 environment to redirect streaming, the results may vary depending on multiple factors.
- The stability of the system is not assured.
- Subtitles and audio tracks can give problems.
- The maximum resolution depends on our hardware and certificates.
Resolutions
- Android Kodi Leia devices with baked in L1 DRM can HW decode 1080 / 2160p Netflix.
- (except Android – Mecool devices – L1 DRM or HDCP – appears to be blacklisted).
- Netflix servers stream 1080p reliably as well.
- Linux / LibreELEC / CoreELEC – Kodi Leia –>> AMLogic devices, and RPi I believe are limited to SW decoding 720p Netflix max.
- Rockchip RK3399 and recent Intel / AMD devices will be able to SW decode 1080p Netflix.
- However – yes- for some reason you can sometimes only get 960x540p streams from the Netflix servers. Seems unreliably with movies.
INSTALL ADD-ON NETFLIX IN KODI
Netflix add-ons for KODI
We have available at least two Netflix add-on projects for KODI, we recommend downloading both for testing with both since the results may vary.
- Netflix add-on for KODI by CastagnaIT – We also have a repository option
- Download source as ZIP
Install add-on in Android TV-Box
The process is very simple, we just have to install the add-on in the conventional way and some necessary extras to make it work.
- Copy the add-on in ZIP format on a USB stick.
- In our Android device we follow the steps to Install Add-ons in KODI from a ZIP.
- In the Add-ons section activate Video Player Inputstream> RMP Input + Inputstream Adaptive (possibly activated only).
- Restart KODI.
- Run Add-on and enter data from our account.
Install add-on on TV-Box with LibreELEC or CoreELEC
This is an interesting alternative for the Android TV-Box with Widevine L1 DRM certificate but without official Netflix support since we can get FullHD resolution or even 4K in certain circumstances.
- Install LibreELEC or CoreELEC in our TV-Box.
- Copy the add-on in ZIP format on a USB stick.
- In our Android device we follow the steps to Install Add-ons in KODI from a ZIP.
- In the Add-ons section activate Video Player Inputstream> RMP Input + Inputstream Adaptive (possibly activates only).
- A system image with Widevine L1 DRM will be installed by downloading 2GB.
- Restart KODI.
- Run Add-on and enter data from our account.
Install add-on on PC
Although we can see Netflix without problems on PC in HD or FullHD quality, maybe we are interested in having an alternative or integrate it with KODI so we leave the procedure here.
- Download the Widevine DLL suitable for our operating system from this link.
- Copy the DLL file into: C:/Users/[user]/AppData/Roaming/Kodi/cdm/
- Download the add-on in ZIP on our PC.
- On our PC we follow the steps to Install Add-ons in KODI from a ZIP.
- Check Add-ons activate Video Player Inputstream> RMP Input + Inputstream Adaptive (possibly activate only).
- Restart KODI.
- Run Add-on and enter data from our account.
CONFIGURE ADD-ON NETFLIX IN KODI
Once we have installed the add-on and it runs we have access to our user account we can adjust several parameters, some are important if we see that we have playback problems or our hardware is limited.
- Within the Netflix playback we can change the subtitles and audio track.
- In the settings of the Netflix add-on we have settings to disable or activate HVEC, VP9, HDR, Dolby Vision and Dolby sound.
- In the settings of the InputStream add-on we can force the streaming resolution and lower it if we notice playback problems.
- Audio Stream Languaje = Settings > System > Player > Language > Preferred audio language
